Just as much fun as hunting wild game is enjoying the meals that follow. Pheasants Forever spices up its National Pheasant Fest event this year with a brand new attraction, the Wild Game Cooking Corner. National Pheasant Fest 2011 comes to the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska, January 28-30.
National Pheasant Fest's Wild Game Cooking Corner is an entire section of the show floor devoted to the hunt for wild game culinary success. Free with paid admission to the show, the Wild Game Cooking Corner will offer:
* Live cooking seminars featuring instruction
* Preparation for big and small game
* Recipes for meals and appetizers
* Healthy eating game and snack recipes
Featured chef Kerri McKenzie will present all three days at the Wild Game Cooking Corner. The head chef at Cheyenne Ridge Signature Lodge, one of South Dakota's finest pheasant hunting destination experiences, McKenzie comes from a long line of great family cooks. Born and raised on the South Carolina coast, McKenzie's dishes tend to have a bit of southern flair and are served with a side of southern hospitality.
Kit Maxfield and Joe Polo from Original Juan Specialty Foods will bring the zest, doing cooking demos for "Pain is Good Blue Cheese Pheasant Wings" and "Honey Mustard Pheasant Breast over Wild Rice with Warm Peach Salsa." Other featured wild game presenters include Lisa Erickson of the Well Kitchen Store and Nebraska's own Seth McGinn, creator of the CanCooker.
"Interest in wild game cooking is really taking off in popularity, and we're excited to make it one of the more delectable parts of National Pheasant Fest 2011," said Brad Heidel, Pheasants Forever's Director of Special Event Sales, "Attendees are sure to walk away with some recipe ideas, and likely a few samples!"
