Olivia, Minn. - June 25 -
Pheasants Forever announces Jason Beckler as the organization's new Farm Bill Biologist in Renville County, Minnesota. Beckler joins PF after three years as a private lands conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA) in Sergeant Bluff, Primghar, and Cherokee Iowa. Beckler will work out of the Renville County Soil and Water Conservation District Office in Olivia.
PF's Farm Bill Biologist program is designed to educate farmers and landowners about the benefits of conservation programs, as well as assist those farmers and landowners after programs have been implemented. Farm Bill Biologists have contacted and consulted over 21,000 landowners, resulting in the improvement of over 1.1 million acres of land for wildlife.
"This position's primary purpose is to work with landowners to assist them in understanding conservation options, and accelerate enrollment into the Conservation Reserve Program and other Farm Bill conservation provisions that work with farm operations," said Jim Inglis, PF Farm Bill Biologist Coordinator, "Beckler possesses knowledge of federal, state, and local programs that will assist landowners in finding the right program and funding to meet their personal habitat and land-use goals."
"I find it very rewarding when I am able to get a landowner to see that he or she needs to improve their habitat in order to reap the benefits of a quality ecosystem," Beckler said. Beckler also worked closely with PF chapters in recent years, on activities such as prescribed burning and chapter banquets.
A native of Gettysburg, South Dakota, Beckler earned a degree in Biology from the University of South Dakota. He can be contacted at (320) 523-1553 x3 or via email at jbeckler@pheasantsforever.org.
