2010 California Pheasant Hunting Forecast
Sep. 13, 2010Forecast: In what's become typical, the Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, and the Sacramento River/San Joaquin River delta area remain the talked about pheasant hunting destinations in California. An uptick in rainfall this spring appears to have boosted production for a host of "The Golden State's" myriad upland species, including pheasants. Season Dates: November 13 through December 26, 2010 Daily Bag Limit: 2 for first weekend of season, 3 for remainder of season Possession Limit: Twice daily bag limit Field Notes: In addition to ringnecks, California's diverse upland platter includes chukar, sage grouse, sooty grouse, ruffed grouse, white-tailed ptarmigan, California (valley) quail, mountain quail and Gambel's (desert) quail.
California pheasant, dove and fall turkey seasons will open November 13. The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) announced today that based on a cost-benefit analysis, the only days open for pheasant hunting on DFG Type A Wildlife Areas will be Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
Drawing to be Held for Apprentice Pheasant Hunts at Grizzly Island Wildlife Area - Oct. 18, 2010
Permits will be soon issued for special Gamebird Heritage Program Apprentice pheasant hunts scheduled at Grizzly Island Wildlife Area in Solano County, southwest of Fairfield. To be eligible, youths must have successfully completed a hunter education course and possess a valid 2010-11 California Junior Hunting License at the time of application.

Ten permits will be issued for a special women's pheasant hunt scheduled Dec. 4 at Grizzly Island Wildlife Area in Solano County, southwest of Fairfield.
DFG Offers Upland Game Hunting Clinics in September - Aug. 12, 2009
The Department of Fish and Game?s (DFG) Advanced Hunter Education Program, in conjunction with Quail Unlimited and Wilderness Unlimited, offers two upland game hunting clinics on Sept. 26. The first clinic will be held at the Wilderness Unlimited property in Williams in Northern California, one hour north of Sacramento. The second clinic will be held at Peace Valley near Lebec in Southern California, one hour north of Los Angeles.
