Brownback Proposes Kansas Governor's Invitational Pheasant Hunt

Kansas may soon have an Inviitational Governor's Hunt of its own. If Republican Sam Brownback wins the race for Governor in Kansas he said that he will begin a Governor's Invitational Pheasant Hunt as a way to make Kansas the top pheasant hunting destination in the midwest.

KANSAS UPLAND BIRD, WATERFOWL SEASONS ON TAP - Oct. 28, 2009
PRATT - The Kansas pheasant and quail seasons return to their traditional opening and closing dates this fall. Both seasons open on Saturday, Nov. 14, and run through Jan. 31, 2010. Prairie chicken season opens a week later - Nov. 21 through Jan. 31, 2010, in the Northwest and East units. In the Southwest Unit, prairie chicken season runs Nov. 21-Dec. 31. (The prairie chicken Southwest Unit is bordered by Highway K-96 on the north and U.S. 281 on the east.)

PRATT - The plans are made; you're taking a youngster hunting during the 2009 Kansas pheasant and quail youth season, Nov. 7-8. The lucky kid has been tutored in gun handling and practiced shooting clay targets. Perhaps he or she has even been regaled with predictions of cackling pheasants bursting beneath the feet. Participants are asked to pluck the longest tail feather on the birds they bag and bring them to End Zone Sports and Office Supplies

SHOTGUN WING-SHOOTING CLINIC AT PRATT GUN CLUB JULY 14 - Jun. 24, 2009
PRATT -- The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will conduct a basic wing-shooting clinic at the Pratt Gun Club this July. The course will include four sessions conducted on Tuesday evenings beginning July 14 and is open to anyone age 12 or older. The course is designed for beginning shotgun shooters and will provide instruction from the very basic to more advanced techniques.

Lake Quivira, Kans. - June 02 - Pheasants Forever (PF) and Quail Forever (QF) announce a $1 million pledge from Duayne Madl, 59, of Lake Quivira, Kansas to PF's Grassroots Conservation Campaign. A Patron Member of PF and a QF member, Madl made the significant financial commitment because of his strong belief in the wildlife habitat conservation mission of PF/QF.

Lifelong Lincoln Resident Named Pheasants Forever's Western Kansas Representative - Mar. 19, 2009
Lincoln, Kan. - March 19 - Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever announce Devon Walter of Lincoln, Kansas, as the organization's new regional representative for western Kansas. Walter's primary duties with PF/QF will include starting and servicing chapters and members in the region to enhance the organization's wildlife habitat mission.
