The potential for a good wheat crop is poor in my area and I think there will be many acres that will not produce a crop at all, which hurts pheasant nesting. There does exist some decent CRP acres that will provide alternative nesting. Just another reason to keep the CRP program alive and well. Some potential for moisture on Saturday and into early next week. I pray that it will come.

It might be time for a good "rain dance" out on the Ponderosa. Prayers sent your way and to all those in need of rain in your area Maynard.

Finally raindrops falling in Dodge after a 163 day hiatus. Praise the Lord!

This dry spell will remain in position #3 all time in Dodge, behind 165 days in 1875-76 and 168 days in 1903-04.

I have been planting forbs for the last two days and kicked out a good number of pheasants and whitetails. Surprised to see several whitetail bucks still carrying antlers.

This rain might do wonders for the wheat. Much of the wheat is way short of moisture as it breaks dormancy.

Haven't measured what is in the gauge yet, but it's over an inch! This is a God Send! Not a bad deal for the first day of spring. Maybe we can get this growing season off to a good start now.

Nice rain here that ends the 163 day dry spell, plus our first snow the winter of about an inch.

My gauge said 1.40. That will get this season started. Hope I can catch up with fire not that it's not a question of whether we can burn.
