How does this happen and the vehicle occupants not realize that they lost everything!!!!!

I have no idea, but this is the second topper I've seen. There was one around Beaver Creek Mn. (10 miles from SD) on I90 last Friday. No crate or dog though.

I bet the truck was stolen and the thieves unloaded the stuff. Just a thought.
