    Default Kicking off the season

In style. Hunting sage grouse (out of state) over Roy and I took a double off a solid point, his first wild birds.

Great shot - thanks for sharing! Nothing like the pup's first wild ones!

These sage grouse kebabs were possibly the best bird I've ever eaten.

Looking at the Sage Grouse opportunities in Oregon you, and since there are 4 birds in the photo, your brother, were lucky on two counts. Limited permits require luck in most of the drawings and then luck in finding the birds. Go buy a lottery ticket. Right now!

While being lucky surely never hurts (definitely needed luck for the permit though I've been drawn two years in a row) this hunt was something I poured a ton of time and effort into.

I've put more time into training Roy than any dog before and it took three days and tons of miles on tires, boots, and paws to get birds pointed. No ripped birds were shot at.

    Wow- congrats hound!
The kind of hunt we all dream and think about- and when it actually happens, there's no feeling like it! Good pics too!
