    Default Lady update...

Well it's been nearly three months and Lady has great days and really bad days. Still very scared and not quite willing to get close; however, I have a new secret weapon...a granddaughter and a dog seem to go together like peas and carrots. Here is Emory and Lady. It's going to take some time but the wife say's it doesn't matter, we're going to keep Lady. Again, wish us luck.

Thanks for the update. Looks like that grand daughter is just what the doctor ordered for Lady.

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

Kids are the best medicine , I know a very successful feild trialer and his prospects go to a family of kids to get socialized before there formal training begins .

Looks great. Good for you. Our Springer girl would pee every time a stranger approached. Never wagged her tail. Bird shy and gun shy at one point. Now she jumps with joy when our boys comes to visit. Loves to go spend time with the elderly neighbors. And we have harvested 15-20 birds over her this year. It was a slow process, and had some setbacks, but it’s worth it.

    Awesome!!

Same innocence (sometimes lack thereof). Similar mental capacity. Same naivete. Same positive outlook. Same sense of humor. Same ability to appreciate the simple things. Same desire to love & be loved. Kids & dogs just need each other.

Our first springer Walt was a great dog. But he had a definite attitude occasionally. He had been our only child for about 1.5 years (besides an adopted cat that barely counts) before an actual human baby entered the picture. Granted, I was a 1st-time dog owner, but he & I butted heads plenty his first couple years. Until his dying day (age 11, suspected pyothorax), he thought he was my wife's boss. Our 2nd springer Buzz, who died a couple weeks ago at the age of 6 (confirmed pyothorax), didn't have a mean bone in his body & was VERY eager to please....anyone & everyone! Yes, he came into our family & immediately became the beta springer. But he was born into a family with 2 little girls & when we picked him up at 7 weeks, WE had 2 little girls. From day 1, he got as much positive attention as a puppy could want. Yes, there could've been other factors that made him such a perfect family member, as well as a pheasant master (genetics; I was a better trainer; whatever). But I strongly suspect that the kids had a big hand in it. Since we bought Buzz, his breeder has adopted 2 more little kids. This, coupled with the fact that I may be able to get a nephew of Buzz, is one reason I hope to get another puppy from the same place.
