I prefer British Labradors. The lab I have now is a cross between a Brit and an American Lab. He's a strong dog but a bit too hyper for my household. The dog never "shuts off". With my British Labs in the past they'd calm down in the house then turn on in the field. I prefer that so I'm thinking once this guy retires I'll go back to British Labs. We'll see.
Here's a nice video/tribute to British Labs working on pheasants;

My British Lab from britlabs.com has been the calmest house dog ever and great in the field. If I went back to labs I would get another.
