Sorry I should have been slightly more specific about the fork. It’s just a regular dinner fork with four tynes. They work well as a comb and lever to pull persistent burrs from fur.
Great videos as usual. Your soundtracks are interesting and I always look to see who the artist is.
I think the burr and goat head issues are from the heavy amount of rain we had this year. I...
Opening weekend was good to us. We saw a lot of birds and were finished early. Last weekend was so so. We headed East around McCook. We did run into some birds but it was few and far between. ...
Well my Derby has found a new home. It’s been sold. Thanks to all who took a look. It truly is a classic pheasant gun.

Great pheasant gun. I just have trouble using double triggers.

This gun is in great shape. Wood was refinished when the decelerator pad was installed. Forcing cones lengthened to 1-1/2”. True hand detachable sidelocks with coil...
They can be found there. You’ll burn a lot of boot leather. Main issue with Vail Pass is the trees are pretty tight and dense making shots difficult when birds flush into the trees.
Wear some...
You could go up to the Brainard Lake area near Nederland. There is a fair share of public areas up there along with trails. Only issue you might run into would be the number of people you’ll run...
Thanks Frangler.
There were signs of large amounts of water where we were. I agree that the heavy winter snows and abnormally wet spring messed with the nesting season. Usually there is an...
#3 and #5 are rather important. Covered 12 miles before the first covey busted out. But if I’m correct this is what blue grouse look like.9335
They have been doing this in Kansas for a while now. Never really been bothered by it as a bird hunter. The other aspect is that the Eastern prairie is a limited draw area and most of the GMU units...
Unfortunately there are just a few weekends before September 1st and I am thinking my fishing window is shrinking rapidly.
Kiva,
Great video. Looks like you had Perfect day on what must be your favorite water. Run off is late this year so I haven’t ventured out yet. So I’ll have to live vicariously through you for...
Ross,
I have never liked my voice on recording. I don't think I sound that way so I understand the self conscious thing.
Along time ago in a galaxy far far away I moved to Springfield, MA (when I...
I am still sore but getting better every day. Thanks. The pain is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Stay hydrated. It is a bad habit of mine when it gets colder out not to drink as much water....
I have the same issue with my Springer this year. If he hit a hot sent he was on it until he flushed the bird. Like you said in another thread, "I can't run after the dog anymore." I can move...
Kiva,
Glad Piper is okay.
I try to steer the dog away from old farm houses or trash pits. Too much danger for both man and beast.
Ty (my black lab) had a 1/2" diameter by 1-1/2" deep puncture...
Walk,
Another fine set of videos.... I've been experimenting with a chest rig for my GoPro. Seems to work well with the field of view except when I forget to turn it on.
Keep up with the...
Kiva,
Great video. Those Scalies looked like they held pretty good. Congrats on the quail along with good dog work and a nice retrieve by Piper.
The first most common shooting mistake on what our minds see as a straight going away bird is we “shoot too quick.” Hunter94 is right about shooting underneath rising birds. When they are close you...
We’ve been doing fair to good chasing birds. When the weather turned cold we were seeing many more birds bunched up. The weather warning seemed to have spread them back out. Hunted NE on Saturday...
Actually I have to take it all back... The best steak is at my house in Bird City.. Service is a bit slow but bar is self service and the steaks cooked rare but not cold.
That's interesting. Was there last season and thought it was pretty good. The second owner of Big Ed's opened a place in Elizabeth, CO. He serves a pretty good piece of meat. I will say Big Ed...
Big Ed's can be hit or miss.. Service is still the same slower than slow. If you want good food cross the border into Benkelman, NE (only 1/2hr out of Bird) and hit the Skyline Grill. Great food...
