Just wish the farmers around me would share in a little bit of this "love" haha

Northwest portion of the state looks great!!!
Has anyone been seeing quail or pheasant this year?

Thanks Chris, it's always good to see results(bird sightings) from time/money spent on habitat work!
Plus, to me weeds/wildflowers look a lot better than rank fescue.
Its in Daviess county.
About a month ago I bumped a ~15 bird covey on our farm. The birds were fairly small, yet big enough to fly off.
Then I got this trail cam pic which made my day!
Been doing a lot of habitat work:...
Hope you have a fun and safe time...Im a little bit jealous
This is what I ordered a few months ago since I couldnt find the quail bundle!
Suppose to be getting them in about a month
100, Gray Dogwood
50, Roughleaf Dogwood
50, Wild Plum
25, False...
They use to have it on the nursery order form but this year its not there(or at least I didnt see it), which is why I was wondering where people found it at.
Where on the MDC site did you see this bundle for sale?
Get any shots with the camera?
That's the main reason I don't get to go out as much as what I want - the wife!
Plus I have a 10 month old.
Hopefully that will lead to more mommas making nests!
Enjoy seeing the pics and hearing the reports from you PW:thumbsup:
What was your thoughts on covey size and quantity of quail/pheasants when and if you ever saw birds, crossing shot?
Welcome to the site Meller. Thanks for the report!
Covey sizes for me on public land were small as well. Private ground had decent size coveys for me. My pheasant hunting spot had a significant drop in numbers.
I did more deer hunting this year...
Took the old dog out and he had a great time!

Nice job on shooting the males!
Hunted Saturday on private ground and both coveys we got into were extremely wild.
Extreme cold temps I don't want to pressure the birds. They already have a hard enough time!
Nicely done PheasantWhisperer!
Were you on public or private?
Hoping to go on Sunday. Haven't been in a while since I've been deer hunting more this year. I still have quite a few public hot spots that I haven't visited yet this year, so just a matter on...
How many birds in the 4 covies?
Went to a public spot today and had a beautiful point on a hen pheasant,,,when she flushed I could tell that she had taken some lead pellets from someone that can't tell the difference between a hen...
Covey #2 and #3 were the closest and they were about 150 yards apart. Based on size/age difference they were different broods!
Got into a large covey with about 18 birds after 30 min of hunting. Knocked one down with my first shot and killed one with my third. Dog pointed the cripple and it jumped and fluttered a bit and was...
Good news:
Went yesterday and hunted for 4 hours and got into 4 covies.
Bad news:
Covey #1 = ~12 birds
Covey #2 = ~7 birds that were a late hatch and small
Covey #3 = ~6 birds
Covey #4= ~8...
