Michigan Pheasants Forever will hold its 16th Annual State Convention on Saturday, January 15th. At the event, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow will join Howard Vincent, Pheasants Forever's National President and CEO, to help in formally announcing Michigan's new Pheasant Recovery Initiative.
Pheasants Forever, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) and other partners have developed the new Pheasant Recovery Initiative, aimed at restoring Michigan's pheasant hunting heritage. Vincent, Stabenow, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Director Rodney Stokes, and a representative from the Michigan Department of Agriculture will make the announcement at 10AM. The event will be held at the Eagle Eye Golf Club near Bath, Michigan.
"We're excited to outline how Michigan will improve wildlife habitat on state and private lands, increase the pheasant population and better hunter access," said Mike Parker, Pheasants Forever's Regional Wildlife Biologist in Michigan. Pheasants Forever developed the Pheasant Recovery Initiative along with the Michigan United Conservation Clubs, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
Michigan Pheasants Forever's 16th Annual State Convention will begin at 8:30AM at the Eagle Eye Golf Club. In addition to the unveiling of the Pheasant Recovery Initiative, the day long convention will feature more than a dozen seminars on wildlife habitat restoration and management, youth conservation education and bird dog training and care, among others. The day will conclude in the evening with the Michigan Pheasants Forever state banquet.
Cost per person to attend the daily session is $10 (includes continental breakfast and lunch), or $35 per person to attend the daily session and the Michigan Pheasants Forever state banquet. The entire family is welcome to attend, as a special youth area – Rudy's Roost Clubhouse – will feature games and a special youth pizza banquet. Youth registration includes a one-year Ringneck (youth) membership to Pheasants Forever.
