SALEM, Ore.—ODFW Outdoors will host a family-friendly rabbit hunting clinic and a pheasant hunt for women and youth in January and February.
These events are designed for beginners and begin with a basic hunter safety overview and a shotgun skills clinic. Participants then go out in the field for a real hunt, accompanied by volunteer guides and their trained hunting dogs.
“These workshops provide participants with hands-on outdoor skill-building activities in a casual, supportive environment that emphasizes safety,” says Mark Newell, ODFW outdoor skills coordinator. “It allows people to try hunting and see if they like it before they invest in equipment. People that have already tried hunting can enhance their skills at these workshops.”
Space is limited and pre-registration is required so sign up now. ODFW Outdoors also offers gift certificates, so consider sending a friend or family member on one of the hunts!
Participants do need to have a hunting license and appropriate tags to participate. See event links for more details. For more information, contact Mark Newell at 503-947-6018 or mark.newell@state.or.us
