HOLSTIEN - A Michigan man was treated and released from a local hospital Saturday morning following a hunting incident in Ida County.

Robert Grace, 38, of Holly, Mich. received two shotgun pellets in the throat while hunting pheasants with five other hunters near Holstien. The hunting party was in a terraced field when a pheasant flushed and Grace was shot.

"Luckily his injuries were not life-threatening," says Megan Wisecup, recreational safety program supervisor for the DNR. Hunters need to always be aware of their target and what is beyond it. If you are unsure of where your hunting party members are, don't shoot.

The Ida County sheriff's office first resonded to the incident and DNR conservation officers are continuing the investigation.
