Pheasant Counts Decline From Historic Highs, But Still Good - Aug. 25, 2011
Pheasant brood counts indicate that pheasant numbers in South Dakota have returned to levels below the remarkable high counts of the past few years. However, the pheasant population in the main part of the state's pheasant range will still provide quality hunting opportunities. From 2003 through 2010, the statewide pheasant-per-mile index was at levels not seen in the previous 40 years. The index this year is 46 percent lower than the 2010 index and 41 percent lower than the average of the past 10 years.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Landowners in parts of southwest Nebraska undecided about what to plant this spring may want to consider milo. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has incentives for planting milo designed to enhance pheasant hunting in the area.

DEC Accepting Applications for Pheasant Release Program - Feb. 02, 2011
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the opening of the application period for its cooperative Day-Old Pheasant Chick Program. This program enhances pheasant hunting opportunities through a partnership with DEC, sportsmen and sportswomen, 4-H youth, and landowners who are interested in rearing and releasing pheasants. Applications must be filed with a DEC regional wildlife manager by March 15, 2011.
