Default Help me pick a e collar

HI, im reaching out to the community to help me pick a e collar. Im looking at 2 dogtra products and need help deciding which to get. Im looking at the 280npc and 300m. The 280 ncp has 127stim lvls vs 100 for the 300m, they both have a 800 yard range, and the 300m is cheaper.

Ill be working with a trainer here in town who sells dogtra but she uses only 280npc, and i was wondering if i went to the cheaper 300m if it would pose a problem with the training.

Anyone have any experiance with these ecollars and can provide feedback?

I don't believe it would be a problem. I think the primary difference between the two models is that the 280NCP has the little display that shows what intensity level you've got it set at, whereas with the 300 you need to look at the dial to figure it out. The 280NCP also has a meter that shows the battery level on the collar, not just the battery level on the transmitter. However, for actual training, I don't think you'd see any difference. If you don't think you'll mess up your relationship with your trainer, you can get the 280NCP for $195 shipped off e-bay. I really like the vibrate function on those collars.

Whatever collar you get consider a re-conditioned one from the collar clinic.

For only $25 difference in price I'd buy the 280NCP but either will work for you. I've had a Dogtra 202NCP Gold for 6 years and never had a problem. I highly recommend Dogtra. I you have a pointing dog you might want to consider the 2500 T&B that Team68 has for sale. I going to get the 2502 T&B for my Brittanys. I need a beeper because I'm tired of looking for them when they go on point in heavy cover.

Team68, have you priced the 2502T&B? I've been looking on the internet and the best deal I have found it on GunDogsOnline.com for $451.99 with free shipping.

I do see them on eBay for a few dollars less but I'd rather buy from a place I know. I've purchased things form GunDogsOnline.com before.

Default Dogtra For Me

I like the basic Dogtra one dog unit I have. I especially like the vibrate button that is on the side away from the electricity buttons. Vibrate is usually all that is needed. Last year I found a new one somewhere on the internet for $175.

Mordis- My only question is are u hunting with a pointer?
I have the 280 for my Gsp and wishing i would have got the upland one for the reason on not being able to see him if he is on point! Other than not seeing him in thick cover the collar has been good so far i would say for the price you will have no problems with it!

No advice to the OP, but ditto on www.collarclinic.com

I lost my transmitter to my Field 90 Tri-Tronics. Tri-Tronics wanted $230 to replace it, kind of hard to swallow since I only paid $150 for the collar in Cabela's bargain cave. I just checked and Collar Clinic has them for $119, this post saved me over $100.
