A feel good story about the "Fresno brothers" returning to their home in fresno counties Kaiser pass area just a little south east of me. That brings Ca estimated black bear population to 40,002 and 0 grizzlies that our state flag portrays.

As far as I know the biggest black bear taken by a hunter was taken in northern Ca in 1993. The only higher scores in B&C were both "pick ups".

I think California has record potential for black bear, black tailed deer, hogs, tule elk, desert big horned and possibly even Roosevelt elk and I know that the next world record large mouth bass will come from California.

Yeah a lot of people think of LA and Sacramento when they think of Ca but some of the most pristine, unspoiled country in America is in our state.
BDC2, 8 of the top 10 record large mouths are from Ca with only the world record eluding us. I predict a world record coming from lake Dixon in the next few years. There is a you tube video of a guy (his name escapes me) releasing a 5 fish stringer of over 60lbs at Dixon.
