Definitely get him out in January! Our Weim Blitz will be 1 year old mid August. I took him out the last weekend of pheasant season. He had a great time and it gave him exposure to new places, sights and sounds. I ran him with my blue Weim Dakota. Blitz ran around after Dakota, kept an eye on me, found some deer poop, some feathers and bones. It was a good time.

I have two other labs, 7yr old chocolate female and 1 1/2yrd old yellow female for this fall. My old 14yr old male won't be able to get out this year. I needed to get another male.

I just love lab puppies!!

What a beautiful dog! I bought a lab pup in 1990 and took him to Canada to hunt sharptail in September when he was only 5 months old. All it took was our stumbling into the first flock, I shot a bird, he ran out and retrieved it, and after that he knew what we were looking for and he found more, had a great season back in Mn starting with ducks and then pheasants in October. Both of the labs we have now started pointing pheasants in their first year, although neither (full sisters, but separate breeding 3 1/2 years apart) were from a "pointing" line.
