So me and my dad were dove hunting this afternoon when all the sudden ten yards from us walked in a bow bow hunter. He asked us to move wow what a day.

And you politely told him what you thought of his request.....

Yep, he was kind to us since it was on public land.

I give bowhunters a lot of respect(esp on public) and try to accomodate them whenever possible.I figure it's easier for me to find a deer with the .270 or a pheasant, than for him to have a whitetail walk-by in range.

I do the same thing. I've bumped into a few bow-hunters out there. With no questions ask I pick up and head out. No problem. Sometimes they'll say they'll head to another area but I've never taken them up on the offer.

Was he already in his stand and just coming to let you know he was there???
I think it's one thing if you happen across a bow hunter who is in his stand, yeah pick another spot. But in the OP case it was the bow hunter who happened upon he and his dad and asked THEM to find another spot. Unless I'm missing something that happened and he's not telling, that took a lot of gall. Last edited by birdshooter; 09-17-2012 at 02:09 PM. |

I have no problem sharing the woods with bow hunters just wish they would make a law for them to wear hunter orange too I would hate to shoot at a woodcock or grouse and pepper a bow hunter

He would say something. A person isn't getting within 100 yards of a tree stand without the occupant being fully aware of it.
