My Brittany was slow on picking up a bird so I just started to walk away from him. He immediately grabbed it and came right over.

Works with a Spaniel who knows how far to cast but disregards it,too. I have actually hidden and made them find me, as well as started down the trail in the truck. Talk about a change in attitude!

Thats how I start all my 7 week old puppies on birds. By 8 months they are generally force fetched so I never have to worry about it.

we've been working on this one lately too. pup seems to want to mouth the birds a bit too much lately.
