I hunted in two different areas this year-Southcentral near Gregory and Northeast around Watertown. I personally saw vast amounts of birds in Gregory, and more than normal from the past 5 years around the Waterown area. I heard it was tough Northcentral, west of Aberdeen towards the river.
Anyone hunt in those areas this year? How was it?

A buddy was hunting up around Mobridge & they got their butts kicked by birds at opener this year. He said it was weak, but I am guessing that is where they were hunting. He's a bad shot anyway.
In some areas, crops were affected, and the birds were down, but the hunting was some of the best with the 2nd & 3rd year birds. In other areas, all was normal.
I was up in Hoven at opener, we got around 80 birds in a few days, about 12 were first year birds. Ouch. Fun pheasant hunt though...

This was out in near Presho area. Quite the corn crop huh? I saw 3 of the biggest birds I have ever seen before. Huge spurs on roosters in this plot.
